Weekly Update 09/27/10 - 10/01/10

Hola Team Melcher!
I know everyone missed the weekly blog update, so it's back!
We are currently short staffed since one of our staff members has undertaken intensive training at Stella Link.

I wanted to remaining staff for your tremendous efforts in keeping this library afloat as well as continuing to uphold our high standards of customer service.  Your flexibility and ability to shift priorities will continue to make Melcher a neighborhood library people return to time and time again.  Onto even more fun and official items!!!
  • Starting Monday 09/04/10 we will be utilizing the new Nieghborhood Libraries Time stamp log-in/ log-out google document.  Melcher's New Time-stamp Log-In.  Since we are already familiar with google documents it should be a fairly easy transition. Please make a conscious effort to account for the time arrived and if there is a meeting or alternate reason for arriving or remembering to sign in past the usual sign-in time please make a note.  The sign-in link will be replaced with the updated link to the new log on Friday.
  • We are also in the process of completing work progress reports (WPR).  Everyone received a blank template in which to do a self-evaulation which will assist me in identifying possible training opportunities as well as opportunities to compliment a job well done.
  • Halloween is right around the corner and Carolyn is already getting kids in the fall spirit with a scarecrow craft.  When october begins we can really begin to deck Melcher out.  Think fall pumpkins, and other creepy crawlies as we get closer to Halloween.  There are also schools in the area who do a book parade instead of Halloween, so it might be fun for us to dress up as a favorite character or book jacket.
  • Since there are only three of us at the branch, I was thinking of creating a work-flow worksheet of sorts.  What it would entail are a list of daily items we perform on a daily basis (Book drop, paging list, shelving, shelf reading, discarding, compiling stats, preparing money, serials, cart sorting, display maintenance, programming prep, outreach, etc...).  I'm still not sure of what it will look like so input would be greatly appreciated.  :)
  • Thank you for making a conscious effort to keep the shelves clear and the carts nearly empty.  Shelving and keeping neat collection makes everyone look good.  Wooohhooo!
  • Also, now that everyone will have completing the "More Money @ Your Library" training, lets put it to good use!
That's all for now.  More updates as they come.
Thank you!
