Let me start with shout-outs / kudos!
Carolyn - Participated in an outreach Wednesday for literacy night at J.P. Henderson!
Mike - Came in really early Thursday to shelve our backlog of booktrucks!
Daisy - Presented at the Deady Parent Meeting Outreach on Friday! (The 10 people who were there were really excited about the library workout series. They want more ZUMBA at Melcher. I will see what we can do.)
What can I say.... We are pretty awesome (even when we are short staffed)!
Onto the Manger's Meeting Updates...
- Effective Monday (today) everyone will be signing in with google docs. This is to prepare us for the new payroll sign-ins that will affect the city within the next few years.
- Booksale is back! New procedures are in place and funds must be pre-approved before spending occurs. Supplemental programming (performers and materials) will be taken care of soley through Heidi Daniel's Programming Department. We are going to create a wish list for submission so far on the list are: Thermostat, Weather Radio, Camera + SD Card, Display Case, Book Spindle. If anyone thinks of anything else, please send it my way or leave it as a comment.
- Early next year expect - Changes in library card applications, charges for lost cards, a policy change will require I.D. in addition to proof of address for registration. Another policy change will occur for JUV registrations requiring that paperwork or a child be presented when registering an account. We will also be asking people over the age of 18 if they would like to sign up to vote, if they need someone to mail out the form we can put them in delivery. However please inform patrons that we are responsible for getting them to the post office within 5 days. We are also not to sign the bottom portion of the long form, since no one here is certified to do so.
- Performer evaluations will be going digital as of... our meeting. This new format will ensure that the information about each performance is accessible to all involved parties. It's even My'Tesha approved! tinyurl.com/performer-evaluation
- WeCAN Works - I asked Nicole from WeCanWorks to establish their "Track II" community programming here at Melcher in a near future. What that would consist of is a 12 week learning opportunity for those who wish to learn English as a second language or obtain their GED. Details regarding the timeline will be forthcoming and I've already talked to a few people who are pretty excited about that possiblility.
- Finishing first with safety. Work related injuries are to be reported as soon as possible to me in order to intiate proper documentation and notification of the appropriate personnel. Meanwhile a big shout-out goes to Mike for being the uber safety-patrol! Mike straightened out the desk, removed items resting on the floor and organized the workspace below the desk to ensure optimal safety for all staff. Kudos to you!
- Since we now have more sturdy cases for CDs and DVDs, policy will be changing to include them as materials that can be placed in our book drops.
- Library coverage will be submitted to team leaders (Mary Wagoner) for approval. Importance on cross-training to obtain internal coverage will be emphasized, but coverage will be provided in instances of need.
Carolyn will be off on Friday and I will working 9:15 to 6:15 on Thursday.
That is all for now. :)
