Good morning Team Melcher,
Dr. Lawson sent out an email last night with an update regarding layoffs at HPL and future reorganization. If you haven't already taken the time to read the email, I have pasted it below for easy access. Thank you as always for your attention, I appreciate all your efforts and look forward to continuing our HPL adventure together.

Dear HPL,
This is to let you know that all HPL employees impacted by layoffs as a result of the City’s budget shortfall have been notified and/or communication has been sent to them.
Please hold our friends and colleagues who are leaving HPL positively in your thoughts and pray for their good success as they move forward. This has been a very difficult process, and, in some way, each of our lives has been altered by it. It is my hope that we will continue to support each other as together as we also find our way forward.
The FY 2012 budget is somewhat more encouraging but still remains fluid. That means the budget is not final and is still changing. I will provide you with more information as I am able to do so.
Our work now is to complete the HPL reorganization plan that has as its goal to use staff as efficiently as possible and minimize the impact of staff reductions on services to our customers. As mentioned in my previous updates, there will be adjustments to staff, programs and services. You will be hearing more from me about these changes in the coming weeks.
For now, let me again thank you for your service to our customers, this library, and the City of Houston. All of us on the Executive Leadership Team appreciate the hard work you do each day.
Sincerely,
Dr. Lawson
